8 REASONS TO GET YOUR MAKEUP DONE ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

I know, I know. I was there once too! Your good friend has offered to do your makeup on your wedding and you’re seriously considering it. I completely understand the desire to try that... It’s so kind and thoughtful of your friend and maybe they’re really talented too! Here’s the thing. Does your friend know the following?

  1. How to handle last minute concerns like covering acne, scars, tan lines, etc.

  2. When to speak up and ask your bridal party or family members to give you some space because you’re feeling nervous

  3. How to make sure your makeup lasts all night

  4. What amount of blush will be needed to show up in HD photos

  5. How to professionally apply false lashes so they look super natural

  6. What time to begin and complete your makeup so no one is stressing

  7. How to work with your hair stylist so your look is cohesive

  8. What colors will work best with your flowers, bridal party dresses, and vibe of your venue

Let’s be honest - a wedding isn’t often cheap. Your makeup (i.e. your face!) is not a place you want to skimp on and take a risk. Investing in your bridal makeup is just like investing in professional photos, gorgeous venue, and your peace of mind. So go ahead and say thank you to your friend, but let her know you’d love to be cheersing champagne with her instead!

What about your bridal party members? Much of the above (#1, #3, #4, #5, #7, #8) applies to them too! Remember, your bridal party members will be in your cherished photos with you and standing beside you while you say “I do.” The last thing you want to worry about is their makeup not fitting in with the vibe you so carefully selected for the wedding, their makeup clashing with your colors, them standing out, or them looking underdone. I’ve seen it all! A cohesive bridal party gives the whole affair a polished and elevated look - and perhaps most importantly - your girls will enjoy the pampering, special experience of getting dolled up by a professional with you!
